On the 16th May, approx. 30+ members and their guests, met at the Masonic Centre in Sheringham for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Chapter which was consecrated on the 18th June 1969.
This regular 151st meeting was also their Enthronement meeting and the Enthronement of E.&P.Prince Peter John Burns was carried out to the highest standard by both the MWS E.&P.Prince Mathew Warnes and his officers.
Before the Chapter was closed, all were treated to an excellent paper on the early years of the Chapter which had been prepared by Ill.Bro John Hart 31.
Ill.Bro John, although not there when the Chapter was consecrated, (he was Perfected on the 15th July 1982) this was still early enough for him to have gleaned many stories from those members who had been there at the consecration and the events leading thereto.
The meal was a replica of that on the consecration night, Iced Honeydew Melon, Crab Mayonnaise, Roast Norfolk Duckling with trimmings, Fruit Salad and Coffee/Tea. Most enjoyable.
The evening ended with a toast to the Chapter, which was given by our Inspector General V.Ill.Bro Andrew George Tayler 33. Like Ill.Bro Hart, he had done his research also and brought to the table some history of V.Ill.Bro Alfred Spencer Goddard 33 the man whose name the Chapter bore.
This was an excellent evening and credit must go to those who had obviously worked extremely hard to ensure that the evening would be a success.
